2nd Annual WCGEC's Energy Storage Technolgies and Applications Conference

Riverside, Ca –

Over 150 people attended the 2nd Annual Winston Chung Global Energy Center's Energy Storage Technologies and Applications Conference held at Bourns Technology Center on April 11-12, 2019. The organizers planned technical discussions inclusive of faculty, researchers, regulators, technology developers, community leaders, and utility/ISO experts on the newest of technologies and applications of energy storage during two days of the conference. The conference included invited and contributed presentations, panel discussions, industry exhibition, poster contest, and networking reception. The theme of the conference focused on two pillars of energy storage technologies as well as system integration, operation, and business models for energy storage across a variety of applications. The highlights of discussions in this year included but not limited to:

  • Cyber-physical Energy Storage and Security
  • Advanced Modeling for Energy Storage
  • Latest Advancements in Battery Storage
  • Emerging and Alternative Storage Technologies
  • Energy Storage Market and Economics

  • Hybrid Technologies: Battery + X
  • Energy Storage and Mobility
  • Utility Planning, Procurement, and Operation

The conference was arranged in two days and structured around technical program, poster session, and industry exhibition during which experts presented their work.

The technical program was varied with four keynote speakers as well as 30 invited speakers, panelists and moderators from industry sectors, consultant companies, universities, national laboratories, utility, system operator, and regulatory agencies. The technical program was a combination of keynote talks, presentation sessions, discussion panels, and tutorials.

In the poster session, academic and industry participants presented posters from past and ongoing projects relevant to the topics areas of the conference. The poster presentations were evaluated based on technical and presentation criteria by judging committee, and three awards and five honorable mentions were granted to the contest winners. The first three winners had a chance to present their work to the conference attendees.

This year we were also pleased to have technical demonstrations through industry exhibitors from the latest advancements and ongoing projects.
